General Contractors Paul Dege & Walter Kasitz built one home within the Talmadge Park Estates Historical District, in 1939. They advertised under “Contractors” in the classified section of the San Diego City Directory from 1939 through 1942.
Paul Dege was the architect and was born on May 12, 1892 in Magdeburg, Germany. According to the 1930 Census and Ancestory.com, Paul Dege immigrated to the United States in 1914 as the son of Ernst Dege, first settling in Minneapolis, MN and then to San Diego, CA. He had at least 2 daughters and 2 sons with Rosa Friedrich Zepf. Paul Dege died on May 16, 1944 in Lakeside, CA at the age of 52.
One of Paul Dege’s accomplishments is listed in the Journal of San Diego History V49, No. 3 & 4, on page 146. Paul Dege was the architect for the residence of Alberto Victor Aldrete who was Governor of the North Territory of Baja California (now the state of Baja, California) from 1946 to 1947.
